Is it ok to wire an electric dryer and an electric range to 1 dbl 50 amp breaker circuit from the main breaker box?

No. The range alone calls for 40-50 itself. The dryer 30 by itself. Why do you want to do this? Is it because one of the two used for range or dryer is now being used for some 240 shop outlet or a/c or something?, and you have no more room in your panel box? IF you have something like this you can post your needs in the electrical sub-forum here.

This really is a question for the electrical forum but since I am an electrician (and was just browsing in this forum ) ,I think i can help you out here. Instead of trying to use that DP (double pole) 50Amp breaker to run two appliances use it to feed a sub panel and move a few of your general purpose circuits like receptacles and lighting to the sub panel, thereby freeing up some breaker spaces in your main. If you install and eight circuiit panel u will have enough room for the 2 appliances plus 2 free spaces.
