I bought a house that has a built-in dishwasher. Prior to moving I had bought a new Whirlpool portable with the butcher block top. The one in the cabinet doesnt clean worth a hoot and I was wondering if the cabinet could come off the portable and it be made into a built-in one?

I couldn't even imagine trying to do this for the little cost new dishwashers can be had for. With a standard permanent one, you get the feature of adjustable legs, the upper mount for under the cabinet for stability, and side seals that make the unit really look flush on each side and built in. And all the hookups for proper discharge are straight forward/code-related, and hidden underneath and in the sinks base cabinet, with air gap drain, etc.

If money was a dire issue you could sell your portable and buy a good used one from someone else who say their unit was perfectly good except they were relacing theirs to put in a newer/high end model.

I have a portable Whirlpool dishwasher which I would like to connect to an existing washing machine supply and drain box. I suspect that the coupled supply/drain hoses disconnect somewhere inside the cabinet and that I can connect washing machine supply and drain hoses in their place. I don't have a manual. Doe this seem feasible?
