I have a Weedeater brand string trimmer that was laying around at my moms house, it needed a new fuel line and filter, so I replaced them. I could not get any fire to the spark plug so I took it apart and I noticed that there is about a one quarter of inch gap between the coil and fly wheel and there isn't enough adjustment to get it within the business card gap. How could the gap become so wide? It is a G-11 model and doesn't look to have been used very much.

if its that wide it could be the wrong coil or flywheel.

You might be right but it looks as if it has never been apart before. Any idea how to tell which one (coil or flywheel) has been replaced?

what brand engine briggs or tecumseh and engine model and type if possible
