We have a Lennox heat pump system and are trying to wire a Rite Temp digital programmable thermostat. Our existing wires are F,W,V,Y,R & vR. Each of them match up except for the vR. When I called the assistance hotline they said I have a dual transformer and I needed to make a modification on it but put me through to an engineer and I had to leave a message which has not been returned. Please help.

Would really love to help you out here but you state that you have a
heat pump with a dual transformer. What is the purpose of the dual transformer? You need to look at the schematic in the airhandler and see
which wires perform which function.

Standard is a follows:

R--24 volt hot
Y--Activates compressor both heat and cool(first stage)
W1 -- Electric heat
G-- Indoor fan
O-- Reversing valve
C-- 24 volt common
E or W2--- Emergency heat

Well, its 2 months late but I have the exact answer you need. I had the same problem. That rite temp needs to be modified to work with the lennox. A guy in seattle will do it for free + mailing. Just email me if you want the info. He adds a wire and breaks another connection.

The only problem is with the lennox because of the dual transformer. Go figure.

Im late here also But why dont you just drop the other transformer. Use the one in the blower unit. All the wires are right there to do it . That V/VR is the other Power leg like the R . Other tstat have a R and Rh for two transformers you just jump them if you have only one transformer.
