Hello i was wondering if anyone could help me with a RayPac 2100 335btu water heater with a Robertshaw valve. I am trying to light the pilot by opening the valve but there is no gas releasing from the valve therefore the pilot wont light. I have checked the gas line for pressure but it is okay. It has not been turned on for a few years and maybe i thought that it would cause this problem but if anyone can help me I would appreciate it. Thanks all!

Remove & clean the pilot burner & orifice. It is quite common for spiders or other critters to build a nest in the pilot burner.

Hi again i disconnected the orifice and pilot burner and there is a pin hole which seems to be clogged because the gas wont go through it. Is there a way besides using a pin to unclog it?

You can try canned air like that you use on the computer or if there is a number stamped on it (should be) you can just replace it with the same size.
If you do use a pin or wire, be careful not to enlarge the hole.

Please forgive me if this sounds dumb. but did you press the pilot button down, and knob switched to Pilot?
I had that happen once years ago, where the owner was just holding a match to it only, and not pressing the pilot button! :-)

Thanks for the help guys I tested all of the switches and of course the last one was the problem: a bad on/off switch. I oiled the switch a little and got it working. Thanks again all of you!!
