My husband and I recently purchased a mid-century modern ranch home that we would love to restore to its original splendor. However, the previous owners were not fond of the 50s era quirkiness. We found fantastic terrazzo flooring under carpet and cheap ceramic tile. We'd like to pull up the carpet and refinish the floor ourselves, but are completely unsure of how to do so. We've noticed some pot marks from large nails used to hold down the carpet, and are also unclear on how to fill them in. Additionally, we're not sure if it's possible to save the kitchen terrazzo that's been covered by ceramic tile?

Any help anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated!
