Alrighty. There is currently a ceiling fan installed in bedroom. Purchased a wireless Hunter remote and have run into some issues during installation.

Wires in the ceiling are as follows:
- 1 purple
- 1 Yellow
- 1 White

Wires on the fan are as follows:
- 1 Black - connected to ceiling purple
- 1 White - connected to ceiling white
- 1 Blue - connected to ceiling yellow (the blue wire has "for light kit" on it)

I purchased the Hunter 2-Wire Fan and Light Control.

It has the following wires:
- Red (for light)
- Black (for fan)
- White (Common)
- White (Neutral)
- Black (Live)

The wall switch also has a yellow and purple wire nutted together along with a red live.

Can someone give some insight as to what wires go where as there are no markings on the fan wires (other than the light)???

I don't understand your question.

Follow the directions on the unit.

Connect your power wires (your setup is using both the purple and yellow) to the "live" wire of the controller.

Connect the red controller wire to the light wire.

Connect the black (fan) controller wire to the fan wire.

One of the white controller wires gets connected to the white power wire inthe ceiling, the other white controller wire gets connected to the neutral wire(s) for the fan and light. Follow the directions to see which is which.

Thanks for the reply.

I think that's where I'm running into a problem. I didn't connect both wires to the live wire from the controller. I'll try that.

No that is not your problem, assuming you told me correctly about the switch.

I checked the switch again and can confirm that there are a yellow and purple wire connected together along with a red wire (which is the live wire).

The problem is that there are no markings on the fan as to what wire is what (other than the blue one for the light).

Here's where I'm at.

Ceiline Wire--------Fan Wire---------Controller Wire
Purple --------- Black ---------- Black (Fan Out)
Yellow --------- Blue ---------- Red (Light Out)
White --------- White ---------- Black (Live In)

I don't know what to connect the controller Neutral and Common Out wires to.

Read the directions. They will tell you how to wire it.

As an alternative:

Please tell me the WHOLE story.

Now you are calling it a COMMON OUT wire. Before you called it a common wire. Unless you tell me everything, I can't help you.

Tell me ALL the wires at every location.

Your diagram does not tell me anything. I sure hope that you did not connect any white wires to black wires, as your drawing implies.

I have read the directions and am stuck because I don't have the install directions for the fan (it was already installed prior to me buying the house).

The labels on the install sheet didn't have Common Out, it just said Common. The tag on the actual wire said Common Out. Sorry for the confusion.

The switch wires:
Purple and Yellow (tied together)
Red

The Fan Wires:
Black
White
Blue

Ceiling wires:
Purple
Yellow
White

The power is currently off at the breaker until I can get final confirmation, and no wires are currently connected.

The Hunter controller has the following wires. The words in the ( ) are what is written on the wire tags.
- Red (Light Out)
- Black (Fan Out)
- White (Common Out)
- White (Neutral)
- Black (Live In)

From what I understand based on the install sheet, the (Live In) wire would connect to the Yellow or Purple wire. The (Fan Out) wire would be connected to the black fan wire. The (Light Out) wire would be connected to the blue fan wire. Just not sure where to connect the (Neutral) and (Common Out) wires.

Connect the controller common out wire to the neutral wire fgor the fan and light.

Connect the controller neutral wire to the ceiling neutral wire.
