I have 2 heat pump units which are now 10 years old. One unit needs to be replaced, and obviously the other unit will soon need replacing also. What are the pros and cons of replacing both units with a single obviously more energy efficient unit, as opposed to replacing just the broken unit for now and keeping my fingers crossed that the second one won't fail soon?
I plan on moving in the not too distant future. My house is a single level 2500 sq foot. We tend to run both units at the same time and keep the whole house at the same temp of around 79 when we are home at nights and weekends.http://forum.doityourself.com/images/icons/icon5.gif

I would just replace the one for now. I would much rather have two entirely separate systems simply because if one goes down, you still have part of the house being conditioned & some is WAY better than none.

Are else go for the seer of 15 or over . You can get a tax credit from the IRS on it. 10 years on a unit is not bad . Most of the time we look at a units life at around 15 years is it
