I was wondering what the state dimmable compact fl lamps technology is.
Are there reliable brands? Are there any dimmers certified for CL?

Don't know much about them except to know that they exist. They used them on the "green" TOH in today's episode. They even used one in a ceiling fan.

yes there is a dimmable compact floursecent bulbs but there are few diffrent verison i will make a quick run down,..

1] screw in CFL bulbs with interal ballast, yes some are dimmable but you have to read the label to see what type of dimmer it can work with this type of lamp [ i dont have much experince with screw in type ]

2] plug in CFL lamp genrally are 4 pin type this is more common one it can be dimmable with electronic ballast that is designed with dimmer and it must be matched per manufacter instruction to get it working properly and it genrally not really cheap at all and this type of item you genrally dont see in the big box store stock this at all unless it is specal order.
The lighting centre or electrical supply centere will stock this or can order it.

those are two most common way to go but there are some area like a true dimmable compact floursect bulb the wiring connection it can overwhelm the diy person depening on what brand it is.

Myself i dont have specfic brandname to use for it each have it own plus and minus so you have to check it around if you have doubt you can ask the lighting centre they can help you with it.
