Repair guy came and said the blower and motor were bad and wanted $667. I 'm thinking about buying a new blower and install it my self. Is this an easy diy job? Any hint about changing a new blower?

Depends. If you have a multi-speed (three or four fixed speeds) motor that is directly driving the blower then it is highly unlikely that you need a new blower but maybe just a motor. If this is the case then yes, it is certainly a DIY job...assuming, of course, that you are handy with tools.

If you have a belt-driven blower then changing the motor only should be a piece of cake.

However, if you have a variable speed blower then it becomes a bit more involved. Not to say that you couldn't still do the replacement but when you discover the cost of just the motor and understand that if you make a mistake you still bought it you may decide that having someone else (someone insured) doing the change-out is a good idea.

You may just need a new capacitor on your existing motor.

Before you do anything I would suggest that you get a second repair company to give an estimate.
