I am having A/C installed into a 1909 house I just got. The install seems to be going well. I just have one questions. They are having the attic unit hang from the rafters. That is not a big deal, I have seen it before.

The one thing I have never seen before is the unit is sitting on a few strips of 2X4 which sit on the water catch pan. (The water catch pan is what is being bolted to the rafters). Is this a fine solution? should the unit be sitting on something else?

All thread from roof truss to angle iron. Secondary drain pan sitting on angle. Treated 2x4 in pan with isolation pad under unit.

Might see what code said about itor wants. I sure would not try and hang a blower coil unit with set just in a overflow pan. For it to set in the pan with the pan down on the ceiling rafters Id say ok. I know some use small cement blocks for the blower coil unit to set on in the overflow pan. Dont forget a overflow control on the P trap or in the overflow pan. Id make sure the drain pipe from the overflow pan comes out over a window ,door or walkway.
