I just got the payment book today for the property I helped my son to buy. Both my name and his are on the mortgage. I was suprised when the payment book was mailed to me, at my address and only my name on the payment coupon. The only reason for me being part of the loan was because of my son's lack of credit [no score] Will he get credit for making the payments on this loan even though only my name is on the payment coupon?

I'm not crazy about the lender we wound up with [rate too high and variable ] The payment book only has 6 monthly payment coupons - reckon they expect me to find a better deal elsewhere :D

If you are both on the loan, you will both have this on your credit report. Most likely, you are the primary borrower due to having the greater income. You are both equally liable with the loan, but you are recognized as being the strength of the loan, so the coupon book and mailings will go to you.
Wait about 60 days and then have him pull his free annual credit report to see if this is on there yet. May take a month or two for it to get placed.

That's not a commercial site, that's the site for exercising your right to a free copy of your credit report each year.

Thanks for the info Bill, it is really appreciated.

Actually my son has greater income than me [I'm retired :D] but understand about me being the primary borrower.

Well that's interesting! He should be first in that case, but maybe it was overlooked. No big deal though.
Pull that credit report to be sure, but it should be on there. In 12 months or so, he might be able to refi this in just his name and you can get it off of you.
