My furnace is a near new Amana freedom80 furnace., If I turn off the gas flow to the furnace and then crank the thermostat to 90,, will it blow only cold air from the basement up thru the airducts throught the house??

Or is it a waste of power and energy let alone the furnace fan??

The sources on the radio said to turn on the furnace summer fan,, but the furnace only has one setting or one fan..

It appears to be working fine..

No, that won't work.

You need a t-stat that has a fan switch ( Fan-Auto, On) But most of time you are going to have another set of switch saying (Heat-Off-Cool). If you have this on your t-stat, you can switch the switch to fan ON, and that will turn on the blower.

And if you got the Cool switch, you can use that, and set the temp where you want to fan to kick in., This helps if you got a window A/C going and want to try to cool the house.

If your t-stat don't have the fan/cool switch, you can add it, if you got the extra wires in the wall, and down to the furnace.
