I have a trip and waste overflow drain on my tub that is evidently falling apart. Yesterday, the tub suddenly would not drain so my first thought was a clog. After about $25 worth of various Liquid Plumber type products I gave up and decided to deal with a slow drain for a while. In the process I removed the overflow cover and discovered that the lever's linkage was missing, so I began to suspect that maybe my drain was permanently in a closed position.
This morning I decided to investigate further and in moving the overflow pipe around and towards the back of the inside of the tub, the tub started to drain almost normally. This led me to conclude that I had knocked something loose between the tub drain and the overflow tube. Now I'm wondering where the water is going when it drains. Is it going down the main drain to sewer, or is it collecting underneath the flooring, walls, etc? I have no crawlspace, the house is on a slab.
I would appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Bill
