The best unit out their is the unit that is installed correctly. A unit is a unit for the most part. That being said most lower end equipment have lower end installs. NOT ALL but most I have seen. If you like trane then id find a contractor that can install it correctly.

And don't look at the big ads in the phone book as a guide. I had my hvac replaced 6 years ago, got 3 bids. Similar, but I went with the lowest, which has the biggest ads in our phone book. And it was a Lennox.
First of all, they had to come back twice to fix leaks. Then about 15 months later I had a problem, and they said the condenser coil in the furnace unit had a leak, but it was only a one year warranty. Realize that this is not a mechanical or moving part. And it was gonna cost about $800 bucks as I recall.
Well, I remembered working on a commercial job with a an HVAC contractor, that this developer used all the time. He used me all the time too, so I knew he liked quality. :)
Anyway, I call him, and turns out he was also a Lennox dealer. Yes, it was a lower end Lennox with a 1 year warranty, but because of the type of problem (none mechanical), he got the factory rep to cover the part and it just cost me $150 in labor.
