My simple bath reno is getting more complicated. I dropped the last case of 2X6 BN tiles on the cellar stairs and about 3/4 of them broke. I'm now short about 8 LF of BN.
No problem, I went to the tile store where I bought the tile to get another case. He didn't have it in stock so he called his distributor. Come to find out that tile is no longer made. Apparently it's been discontinued for some time. He called a couple of other distributors with no luck.
I have enough field tile to complete the job but I'm short BN. I can work around everything except the tub deck. Is there any way to get a good looking joint between two field tiles at a 90* angle (i.e. along the edges of the tub deck)? Right now I'm torn between not overlapping the tiles and filling the void with grout beveled to 45* or perhaps 3 or 4 lbs of C4.

I use the 45 degree bevel a lot. I cut the edge of the tiles with a miter cut to accomplish it. I don't like that raw edge look from overlapping it and, if you use a factory edge on both surfaces, you can use the part of the tile that rounds over to create a bit of a bull nose look. At least a rounded over look. Then again, there's always the C4 option.

Thanks for the suggestion Smokey but I think the DIY gods were feeling sorry for me. An hour after I posted the tile store guy called me. After I left he said he scrounged around what he called their orphanage. Apparently they have a large stock of odds and ends in their wharehouse. He actually found a case of 40 pieces of what he called edge tile of the same product line and color. This is the heavy duty 90* tile designed to wrap around a corner.
When I planned the reno I didn't buy this stuff because it was really expensive. If I remember right they were $3-4 apiece. Guess where I'll be buying all my tile/flooring stuff in the future?

Sounds like you're talking about sink rail and, yes, that stuff is spendy. Are they cutting you a deal? In any case, you'll have a better edge over the whole thing than you would have. Nice score, congrats.

I forgot the best part - the guy gave me the edgfe tiles. He said they were just taking up space.

Whoaa!! Incredible score! Again, congrats. My guess is, they'll get a few referrals.
