I have a 1 year old (but past warantee) Matag window unit that is acting up. It cools fine and all of the 'modes' seem OK but when I turn it off a motor continues to run. The only to shut it off is to unplug it. Any thoughts?

Sounds like you got it right. If it's a modern unit, the relays are probably right on the control board. You'd probably have to replace the entire circuit board. Chances are a new unit is cheaper.
