Just an "out of curiosity" question.
My outdoor small patio glass table shattered into a million pieces. I was inside and heard it shatter. I heard nothing fall or hit it. Is it possible it can just shatter? Perhaps there was a small crack that I didn't notice and then finally it shatters? Is it possible it heat can shatter glass like that? Last week it was over 100 or so. I doubt it, but just wondered. When I went outside to inspect it. There was nothing around but the shattered glass. No rock, no pebble, no toys, nothing.

It was tempered glass and it can shatter on its own due to an imperfection in the glass during the tempering process. It is also possible that if the fit of the glass didn't allow for expansion then it could shatter due to stress.

Thank you :) So...it IS possible! I feel better now knowing this information and am no longer wondering and scratching my head. I thought when they make these things they would consider for the expansion? Oh well...it wasn't mine and I didn't pay for it :D.

Heh, yeah I had something similar happen. Researching about glass, I discovered that it's actually a liquid!
