I'm trying to install a cabinet base in our new laundry room in our basement. Unfortunately, the wall is bowed out in the middle of the wall (I think something must have been in the way between the sheetrock and the studs when the installer hung the drywall). I bows worse at the bottom of the wall than it does at the top.

I've considered cutting the sheetrock out around this middle area to see what happened. But I wondered if anyone here has any easier ideas.
The cabinet top is about 3/4 to 1" from the wall at each top corner, and it also is supposed to line up with another full height cabinet that is right next to , and because of this bow, it doesn't.

Thanks!

First connect the two cabinets together and see how they fit the wall. It might not be as bad. It is not uncommon to cut out drywall to get a cabinets to set flatter, but then that affects the countertop. What you likely have is a bowed stud. it might be worth replacing it to get the bow more manageable. After all, the cabinets will be there for a long time, and drywall is fairly easy to fix.
