A pesky ground hog is living under our deck and feasting on our flower beds. If I could catch it in a live trap, then what? How do I dispose of it? Live in the city, so no guns are allowed to be used.

Check your local game laws. It won't tell you what to do but it will outline what you are not allowed to do. IIRC under my local laws woodchucks are not protected. However, if you live trap any animal you must kill it (usually with a gun) or release it immediately. Enter the professional animal control type.

Your local animal control should be able to advise you about what you can do. They might even come out and trap the critter for you.

Outside of our office is a 30 gallon barrel of water, big enough to accommodate a typical cage
from my back yard the neighbors tell me that a .22 can not be heard
Your other options are to get permission from a land owner to release the animal opr see if animal control will take it off your hands
