What is acceptable for attic temp vs outside temp?

It was 92-93 yesterday and sunny and my attic was 135 by late afternoon. Wondering if this was acceptable.

I have been doing research on this myself. I have read that the attic temp. shouldn't be more than 15 degrees hotter than the outside temp.

Ideally, you don't want it any hotter than it is outside but reality generally prevent this from happening.

Simply undertstand that the insulation in your inner envelope ceiling/attic floor must insulate the inner envelope of your house (living area) against whatever temp is in your attic. The cooler you can keep it in the summer, the better.

I don;t know what the recommended or allowed differential is but I would want it cooler than 135.

The way to make sure it is satifactory is to make sure your soffit and roof vents are providing adeqaute ventilation.
