As much as I thought I knew, I still messed up a bit in our new house. We have a bonus room over the garage that is open to an office mezzanine that is open to the main floor. There is only one set of windows up there facing only one direction (east), and that prevents cross flow ventilation. I put in skylights that do not open thinking that the casement windows would be enough. Now I have to add a fan somewhere to force some air flow. Main floor has worked out well, but the "half floor" gets into the low 80's by early afternoon here in Logan, Utah. Main floor, west end, gets into the mid to high 70's even when it is 95 outside, while east end stays about 5 degrees cooler.
