Heat Pumps and Electric Heating - ****Blower Keeps Blowing****

I have read a lot of tips with guys whom had the similar problem with their blower not stopping. I bought a new digital honeywell thermomstat and started experiencing these issues with my furnace. The old thermostat was off 10 degrees or so; therfore, I bought a new one. Although, when my old thermostat cool air or heat kicked off the blower did as well. Now with the new digital thermostat it won't kick off. I read somewhere on one of these threads where you can slap next to the relay and it will stop. I did and it stops everytime. I just don't understand how from buying a new digital thermostat could cause this. Could the new thermostat cause these problems. Everything works great just for the blower won't stop blowing after the air or heat kicks off. Please any tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!!

As there are so many tstat out there that do this and that for you . Id say the first thing is to read all the paper work that came with the new tstat. Some have a time delay in them , that you can play with. Go over the paper work again and read it all

I've seen your name posted to several threads with very beneifical advice. Just wanted to thank you for the response. I contacted Honeywell and explained the problem I was having. He walked me through a few minor things dealing with the thermostat itself. I unpluged the computer part of the thermostat from the wall and the fan was still blowing. He checked to see if I wired it correctly. Then the solution he gave was contact a Heat and Colling Specialist; therfore, I really wanted someone with your level of expertise to give me more advice on the situation. He said it had nothing to do with the thermostat. The Model of the new Thermostat is Honeywell 5-1-1 RTH7400D. The blower will stay on for HOURS!!! No joke. However, it did not do this with my old thermostat. I called a local parts place and I can get a Blower Relay for $26.00 to replace the one in the Furnace.

depending on the brand name of the furnace (perhaps rheem or ruud) it seems like your problem is a bad "blower limit" usualy with information on it example L190-30, L180-30, L###-## (in open position) located somewere in a hole in the heater exchanger (you will not see any hole until after you remove this device its secured with two 1/4 of an inch screws and it has two wires usualy red color, low voltage in newer models you may jump this two wiresfor test pourpuses; in older models it may be diferent with higer voltage going to the blower motor (if you take the cover of it it it will have a circular dial with 3 diferent themperature setings) you can play with this to have come on or not, however may personal recomendationes is to replace it with a brand new if you not have the apropiate knowledge (you don want the heater exchange to over heat, before it sends power to the blower motor IT COULD BE DANGEROUS.

I want to thank you for the suggestions, but I was right on the money this time! It was a faulty blower relay. I went out and bought a new blower relay for 12.75 and works like a charm now.
