I presently have a dehumidifier operating in my basement family room (in a split entry ranch) but it puts warm, dry air back into the room. I want the air to be dried but not warmed but I don't really need more cooling down there very often. What I am looking for is a window ac unit that has a dehumidifying (only) setting for cool but damp nights. LG has a few units that have what they call a "DRY" mode but I cant get a straight answer from them (LG) as to whether it is a "dehumidifier" setting, & the owner's manual merely says to use the DRY setting "For dry operation"....whatever that means???
Does anyone know of such a window ac unit with a true dehumidifier mode?

I have a similar situation in my basement. I don't know the answer to your question as to whether there's a window unit that can dehumidify. But why not do what I did? I installed a low-profile window A/C in the basement window AND run a portable dehumidifier. Together it seems to work.
