Hello, we have a 20ft. 2-story foyer and we have a large clear window.
The window is way above the front door, so i'm guessing the window sill
is at least 10-11ft. off the ground. The window is apprx. 47"W x 64"L.
We get very intense afternoon sun in the front of our house(yard) and
the sun is terrible coming through the window and into the foyer if window
is left uncovered. Right now we have a ready-made cellular shade from T.H.D.
and it doesn't operate properly going up/down and it is tilting to the side more
like the fabric was cut wrong or something or the string was strung wrong.
I don't know but would verticals be well suitable? i was thinking of pinch
pleats on a traverse rod with a long cord loop but then thought of verticals
more. can cheap custom verticals be ordered or made with a very long cord loop and clutch system for vane tilt and draw controls? More like a 10-11ft
chain-cord. Is that possible? I've seen where you can get a very long cord
and wand for mini-blinds but i don't know about vertical blinds.
...Is there any options rather than remote satellite operation?
Thanks for any help in prevance!
thanks.

i'd sure like to know what builders are thinking when they make these windows!!!!
i think i'd go with tinted window film or stained glass. vertical blinds seem outdated and since you can't completely hide the stackback when they're open, they'll ruin the look of the window. so if you must cover the window completely, i'd stick with something horizontal you can raise up & that will almost disappear, like pleated shades. a remote controlled blind will be money well spent. do you really want a long string hanging all the way down from the top of the window?? :thumbdn:

I agree Annette; I have no idea what they were thinking when they designed
the house like this. I thought of window tint film but did not know how it would look, being darker than the other windows on the front side of the house. I also wanted something where they can be operated, opened, closed,
tilted, etc. being able to filter the light and close them in the hot summer
and open them and the cold winter, letting the sun in or blocking it out.
I don't care about dangling cords, cause we already have a cheap looking,
cheap priced cellular shade that doesn't operate properly and doesn't seem
to be covering the window completely.(plastic headrail bending, etc.)
If i was to do pleated shades, can you get them with the remote operation?
I know this operation is at least $100 to start with probably, i really don't
think that much money is needed for 1 window.
If i can't find anything, maybe i will find a cheaper roller shade with clutch
system and long chained loop or a pleated shade, maybe even TDBU for better sun filtration and blockage and privacy, etc. and tie some long strands
of string to them, operating the shade from the ground height.
Thanks anyways Annette.

Any custom window treatment can be ordered with any length chain or cords and you can specify to have them on the right or left.
