I was driving around when I saw a old Sansui 990 db laying on the curb for the trash man. I have several old Sansui recievers 1977 vintage. I snatched it up quick this thing weighs about 50 pounds.
Took it home and cleaned up the outside it was very dirty from pipe smoke as all knobs were yellow.(metal knobs). got them nice and shiney my wife cleaned up the real wood case.
I need to clean the circuit boards as they are pretty dirty with dust and pipe smoke.
I plugged it in and all lights worked and using my headphones tuned in some stations however all pots will need cleaning as I get a lot of static when moving the switches.
I really love those old stereos from the 70s built like tanks IMO.

I hear you. I had a Sansui 881 that I bought my first assignment overseas in '75-'76 (think I paid $199). Bit the dust about 10 years ago, but I loved it.

A can of compressed air, a small artist's brush, and a vacuum will clean the dust off the board.
De-Ox-Id will clean the pots & switches.
I have a 1975 Rotel receiver/amp that's still going strong, powering a pair of ancient Bose 101's on my backyard deck. It has a phono input. ;)
