I just bought a used CD recorder with no ownership manual. I got it for recording audio tapes onto CDs. I'm doing analog connections. I haven't been able to figure out how to connect everything and hoped someone might know how to do it. Seems like when I get one thing playing, another won't play. Or if I get everything seeming to work, the recorder doesn't record.

Here's what is on my equipment:

back of receiver:
Tape 1: OUT (REC)
IN (PLAY)

Tape 2:
OUT (REC)
IN (PLAY)

back of tape deck:
IN (REC)
OUT (PLAY)

CD recorder:
Line IN
Line OUT

All connections have a LEFT and RIGHT, which I know how to do - just can't get the other figured out. Thanks in advance. If someone is able to help me and I get it working, I'll be sure to post a response.

I'm having trouble understanding your (PLAY, REC) terminology. It's late.....

Here's a manual in serveral languages for you! :-p

If you are just using RCA plugs then it should be like this:

Tape player:
RCA OUT -----> Receiver Tape IN

Receiver:

Tape or source OUT -------> CD Recorder IN

CD Recorder:
OUT -------> Receiver CD IN

Remember, to listen to the CD, you gotta change the source on the receiver back to it.

Thanks for the manual link! I had checked at Pioneer but couldn't find a free downloadable one. Didn't want to invest $20 until I knew the recorder works.

As far as not understanding my post, I was just putting what's on the back of my equipment. But it is indeed late.

I downloaded the manual so will pour through it and see if I can get some answers. I hope it's not just broken and meanwhile I'm tearing my hair out.

YAY! I downloaded the manual and discovered I needed a certain kind of CD-R for the recorder. Got some of the right ones, skimmed through the manual and the recorder worked great. Thank you SO much, Mark.
