I am laying Shaw laminate and want to know what the best underlinement would be. The thicker the better?
We had some Pergo in the house already when we purchased and it sounds thin and cheap. Would a thicker underlinement give the floor a more solid sould?
Also, I called Shaw and their laminate has a lifetime guarantee. This would be for manufacturers defects correct. All the other brands I shopped around for had 10, 20, or 30 years warrantees. How does Shaw compare to the professionals?
Thanks for the help in advance, much appreciatted.

In order to not void warranties, it is best to use the manufacturer's recommended underlayment. You can see the Shaw options here: http://www.shawfloors.com/CMS/Articles.aspx?DN=1185,1170,1156,4,Documents
Shaw explains their warranty coverage here: http://www.shawfloors.com/cms/Articles.aspx?DN=1153,1109,29,4,Documents
Their VersaLock has a lifetime structural warranty. If I'm not mistaken the VersaLock has attached underlayment. Many recommend laminate with attached underlayment, especially if sound is a concern, because it tends to offer more sound deadening qualities.
