OK, so I have a tile entryway that goes into the upstairs bathroom (which I want to leave in). It has 3/4 plywood underneath it so it will naturally be higher than the hardwood.

This pic should show what I mean.

er this forum doesn't allow vbcode.. oops. Just paste the above into a browser to see the pic.

Also, it looks like parts of the subfloor (where the joints are) aren't exactly level. The majority are level but as you can see where I have the level in this picture from one joint to another there is a gap underneath the left side of the level. What is recommended to do in such a situation? Sand? Apply some sort of levelling compound to the "low point"?

Should I install another level subfloor of plywood to:

1) Level everything up (hopefully)
2) bring the Pergo up to the level of the tile?

If not, how do I transition between the two?

One last thing.. I'm using the Pergo global passage bombay rosewood 5" planks which have a thin underlayment on them already. Would it be recommended to add another underlayment (the softstep or whatever it is called)?

im in the same boat as you between my kitchen a dining room floors..i have tile laid in the kitchen that sticks up 3/4" and im puttin 1/2" engineered hardwood in the dining room(to match the rest im laying over a concrete slab downstairs)..not that im a professional or anything, but what i was gonna do was lay another 1/4" piece of plywood subfloor down over the existing 3/4" subfloor in the dining room and use a T-molding that matches the hardwood to transition between them in the door way..anyone else have any other suggestions?

I actually noticed that the carpet -> pergo molding in the 4-in-one pack seems to work nicely. I use the T-molding and add the carpet molding and put the carpet molding on the laminate side and it looks like its the right height... I'll have to post up if it works/doesn't work.

I'm trying to avoid adding 3/4 to my entire first floor where I'm doing the pergo. I think the transition between the ceramic tile up front and the pergo will be "interesting looking" to say the least but we'll see what it looks like.
