I recently had the concrete slab sealed with a heavy duty epoxy ($150 a gallon!) in the back two bedrooms of my house as they were pushing a lot of excessive moisture from the outside. Combined with a french drainage system I installed this has eliminated my moisture problem. However I need to recarpet theses two rooms and do not want to use standard tack strip on the floor as it would weaken the integrity of the sealed concrete. Is there an epoxy or cement that can be used to apply tack strip sans the cement nails?

PL400 construction adhesive is what I use. I've tried other stuff, but none of it worked as well. It has the lateral strength needed to not let go. If I have to glue my strip, I often put down two rows versus one for a little insurance. One question, is this sealer soaked into the concrete or sitting on the surface like paint? If it's soaked in, you may be OK. If not, I'd be a bit worried it will come up during stretching. I have seen lots of jobs where the installer didn't remove paint, glued strip to it, the chemicals in the paint and glue reacted to each other, released the paint from the floor, and the strip was solidly glued to a layer of paint.

Thanks for the reply. The material that I laid down (75 mil thickness) sinks into the concrete but also creates a layer of epoxy across the top. When this stuff is fully cured it is pretty much permanent. It wont flake or peel up like a coat of paint would... at least I do not think so.

Thanks for the tip. I will check out the PL400 adhesive.
