If a home is on a pier foundation, is there anything, structurally, I should look at that would not be an issue with crawlspace/basement foundations?

Any advantages to a pier foundation? Disadvantages?

If you are thinking of buying, have a pre-purchase home inspection - cheap insurance for the things you do not know what to look for.

Advantages and disadvantages depend where you are - climate and water table.

One thing to look for on pier foundations for house is differential settlement between piers. This can happen because usually the piers are often not deep into undisturbed natural soil.
