I'm looking for a way to use the remote for my panasonic home theater sc-ht730 while it is behind the closed doors of my entertainment center. From what I can find an IR Extender is made for this. Has anyone had any experience with these things? Do they really work?
Here are two types that I was able to find.

Thanks for the advice

Have you checked out the IR repeaters? Much more reliable than the RF extenders.
A receiver is placed in the room(s) and an emitter is placed on the device over its IR window. A wire runs between them, or through a connecting block. You can add to the system to control devices in or from other rooms.

Of all the IR repeaters and extenders I've tried I like the one by Next Gen. Unlike the other repeaters, you don't actually see any of the equipment or wires. It has the farthest range of an extender. I split the video from one satellite receiver to a couple TVS, so I can carry the remote around with me and change it from any room.
Unlike the other repeaters, the transmitter for this setup is in the shape of a battery and goes in your remote. You dont have to point it at a cone or pyramid. Solid Signal has a step by step photo instruction on how this works (very helpful) http://www.solidsignal.com/tech_help_LRRX.asp

Yes that is the one I referenced in my post. I was hoping for a cheaper solution.
