We are in the process of (finally) having our old 3 season room torn down and replaced with a family room. The room will be fairly large (19 x 33) and one of the long walls will be windowless and used for our home theater stuff. I would love to have the rest of that wall space all staggered shelves and cubbies with a few large 'empty' spots for pictures. Does anyone know where I can find pictures of something like that? And what would be the best way to hang the shelves. I don't want to see those vertical brackets.
Thanks!

you'll want "floating shelves" that have a hidden mounting system. they appear to be a shelf just miraculously stuck to the wall, but really they've been slipped over a cleat that's been attached to some studs and then the shelf is attached to the cleat.
as for how to arrange the shelving - sketch out your wall & try to determine the items that you'll have on the shelves, so you can space them accordingly to fit the items. potterybarn.com has lots of shelving in their room settings. take a look there for starters.
