I have brown water coming from my taps. I am now draining down my tank with lots of brown water coming out. My tank is 11 years old and has been flushed often over the years. This is certainly the worst it has been. Is the anode gone? Should I replace the anode or just replace the 11 year old tank?

Chances are the anode is gone. If you only get the brown water from the hot water taps, & before replacing the water heater, have the water (both out of the hot & cold sides) tested. If the cold tests the same as the hot, the problem is with the water, not the water heater.
