Our house was built 6 years ago, and the contractor installed 2 ac/heat Units made by York. One of the units has had a horrible start up noise like it is going to explode. We have had the firm that installed it out numerous times, and the factory rep out last year. They all say it is "normal". The other unit has normal noise upon start up, but they still insist this is normal. My guest are woke up during the night in the bedroom next to the unit, and in the spring and summer when we entertain out on the patio, it scares our guest when it kicks on. No one can believe it is our a/c unit that is making the noise, or that it would be normal.

Have you heard of this problem before? If so, is there a remedy, other than throwing the unit off the property??
