My mom sets the A/C on 72 degrees. The outside temp is 100+ degrees. I told her it would never get to 72 degrees. I told her to expect at least 10 to 15 degree drop. Is this right? The A/C unit seems to run all the time and the power does get tripped. Any help will be great. Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by "the power does get tripped". If you are talking about the circuit breaker tripping, then you have a problem that needs immediate attention.
Anyway, at 100 degrees and the stat set for 72, the system will run nearly all the time. It should however, be able to provide an indoor temperature at least 20 degrees cooler than outside. If it can't, you may have problems or an undersized system.
