I have a symphonic 27' Television thats a couple of years old. The other day I turned it on and got nothing but a white line across the center of the screen. I know a little about t.v.'s and I don't think the tube is bad. I'm thinking its probably the verticle i.c. that needs replacing. I'm curious if anyone has seen this problem and if i'm on the right track. Thanks

Sounds like you are on the right track. The verticle I.C. probably does need to be replaced, but, if you are not good with soldering, I wouldn't attempt the repair. You could cause more damage then good.

You might want to get a hold of the manufacturer to see if they can send you a circuit schematic for the set to assist you in the repair.

The I.C. was the culprit but now i got a picture with a few lines at the top of the screen, seems like they are noise lines or something. So would this be caused by one of the caps or a resistor?

Bad resistors are usually easy to spot. They will appear burnt or even melted.

Typically, if one resistor/cap/IC is bad, there probably is a few more along with it.
