I am replacing my heat pump and air handler. I have a quote from two contractors one is for a Carrier Infinity 16 Seer w/ Puron and the other is for a Trane XL15i w/ freon. Both are in the same price range but the Carrier has Puron (R410A) and the Trane uses Freon. What is better at this time the Freon or Puron? I am leaning towards the TRane System but do not want this decision to be a mistake, the total cost is around $6,000. I am concerned about getting Freon should I need it in the future, due to the fututre ban. Can someone please give me their thought and or suggestions. Much appreciated.

I would not base my decision on the type of refrigerant. Yes R-22 will rise in price in the future but it will be around for a long time. R-410 is a good product if properly installed.

You should go with the contractor that you feel comfotable with.
