so i posted before....solved that problem...replaced the fan motor and added a capacitor....The unit and fan work great but after aboug 20 minutes the compressore and house fan are still running and the fan in the air handling unit cuts off....
what could be causing this problem
the fan i'm using is a 4 wire fan, two brown, purple and black i think. well the two brown wires i have running to their own capacitor....what do i need to check or what....
You guys are such a big help...THANX

You sure the motor is same HP and RPM .Turns the same way? Did you get a new capacitor with the new motor???

specs
old fan is 200-230 volt, 825 rpm, 1/4 HP, HZ 60, 1.9 amp, 1 phase
new fan is 208-230 volt, 1075 rpm, 1/4 HP, 1.6 amp, 1 speed
and the capacitor.....well i added a new one and ran both brown wires from the fan to the new capacitor only and left all the other wires on the old capacitor.....
so yea the unit runs good when everything is working.....but like i said the fan turns off but the compressor and fan in the house stay running....why does the air handling unit fan turn off.....

It has to do with the higher rpm motor with the same horse power.
Actually the pitch on the blades on the lower hp motor are pitched more than would be on the lower rpm motor with the same size wheel causing it to work harder and overheating the motor. If in a pinch you had to up the rpms then you would also need to increase the horse power.
