Got my first estimate today on a new asphalt driveway and parking pad. I'm located in eastern PA near Allentown. Job will install over an existing gravel driveway with little gravel left. Total area is 3,300 sq ft, and quote includes minimal grading with added 2B modified stone to 4in depth, and either 3in of ID2 or 3.5in of ID3 asphalt. Price includes breakup and disposal of 27x24 concrete pad/foundation from former garage, and AC20 hot tar seal for 40ft section that overlays the end of existing 1000 foot asphalt driveway (10ft wide). Also includes a swale to direct water runoff. Quote is $7,000 and the company has been in business for 20+ yrs and seems reputable. Does this seem to be a reasonable quote? The area is almost flat, so is the ID2 or ID3 a better choice (i have small kids who will certainly want to use it for tricycles, bikes, boards and basketball).
