I am in a newly renovated townhouse I've been in the house two summers and each summer the Rheem HVAC has stopped working ---both times in the middle of the night --- both times, the outdoor fan has stopped blowing while the internal fan appears to be working and humming.

Last year, I paid a repair person $100 and he came, took the box of the outdoor fan unit, hit a reset button, and all was good. I've tried to find the same button. Anyone know (a) where on this unit the button might be and how to reset and (b) any suggestions why an allegedly brand new unit would have switch off issues twice in two years.

Just to be on the safe side and cover my bases, I have also checked the internal circuit braker on both the unit and to the house. Neither were tripped so I turned each on/off just to be on the safe side. Ultimately, my entire HVAC is "off" as I didn't want the internal fan blowing.

I am very open to suggestions. This is my first house and I've learned a lot in the past year!

Thanks so much!

He probably reset the high pressure switch. It will be attached to the refrigerant line with two wires coming off of it and will have a "usually" red button to push down inside the unit.

If it is tripped I would be concerned to as why it tripped. Is the condensor clean ? Plenty of clearance around and on top for air flow ?

Thanks Mattison, I've opend the larger side with the fan and didn't see any lines or (red) buttons. So, I've opened the other side which has all the wires. I haven't seen any buttons here either. Any recommendations on the usual colors of the different wires? Is this something that I can easily do myself or do I need to hire a professional?
