Hey, all. This is my first post here, and I'm trying to troubleshoot my central air. I've copy-pasted my question and the answer I got from another forum, in hopes of gaining more insight into the problem. Thanks for any advice.

Question: My outdoor central air unit has recently started making a buzzing sound every 20 seconds or so when I run it. It's the same sound it makes when it first turns on, only now it keeps doing it while it's already running. Every time it makes this sound, the lights in the house dim slightly.
It still blows cold air, and seems to function normally aside from this one unusual behavior. However, I view this as a warning of an impending breakdown, and I'm sure it's not great for my electric bill, either, so I've stopped running it until I can figure out what's wrong.
I'm good at fixing most things, so I'm hoping to solve this myself. Thanks for any advice.

Answer: "This sounds like something to do with you capacitors, start or run can both produce this same problem..."
