Recently had some work done to my compressor unit (mouse chewed through a couple of wires -Red, White & Green). The tech that repaired the unit spliced the wires together and wrapped electrical tape around them.
Now the compressor will not start unless I take the cover off the unit and press this small black switch. I'm questioning whether the wires should have been completely replaced versus the electrical tape?
Now the company wants another $100 bucks just to come out and look at it. I rather do it myself, however, want to make sure it is done correctly. Any suggestions / comments are appreciated.

How about calling the company back and stateing that they had come to fix a problem and the problem is still there? Meaning you paid for a service to be done and it was not done.
It could be as simple as a wire nut not tight enough keeping wires in contact. But you have already paid for a repair the obviously didn't work. YOu shouldn't have to pay again for it to be done correctly a second time.

Thanks for the input guys.. After I opened the unit up, I found the 24v wire had some damage as well. I replaced the wire and the unit appears to be working well.
In regards to calling the company back.. I'm sure there response is going to be that the original charge was for the service call and the time to tape up the wires. Replacing the wires would have taken longer and they would have passed along the cost to me as well.
So lesson learned.. I won't use that company again, and basic repairs are within ones capabilty when properly informed how to do things safely & correctly. This web-site has been very helpful..
