OK new problem now LOL
This morning I woke up about 430 to go to work and the compressor was humming but the big line that is supposed to be cool and wet was frozen solid. Turned the unit off for now and will look at it when I get home.
What can cause that to freeze up? New filter 2 weeks ago. Do I need to clean the evaporator coils? It don't they've been cleaned ever. Also, outside temp dropped considerable overnight, would that have anything to do with it?

Alright, turned the unit back on, all works......................BUT.................
I took some dish soap/water to try to see if I had a leak.
Right where the big line goes into the evaporator, right at the soldering, I put the soap/water and I got big bubbles. I'm guessing that is where my leak is.
Question is, can I solder this myself? Have soldered plumbing before or is that a no-no since it's a refrigerant line?
Or do I have to call the tech again?

That line is under pressure. What ever you do, DO NOT put a torch to it. I'm afraid you need to make the call.

Yeah I figured that, now the only thing is, it could just be air coming from the evaporator.
It's right at the connector that is soldered into the evap. Right next to it is a gap between some white styrofoam stuff and the side of the unit, there is a little air escaping there.
I"m going to clean the evaporator coils and if it freezes again I'll call the tech, sound like a plan?

One more question, is it OK to use the type of coil cleaner you can get a Lowes?

Check the leak(?) with the system off. The large line has more pressure when off than on.

WOW am I a pain in the butt???? LOL
Shut the system down, no bubbles.

Don't be too sure yet. There is such a thing as a "vibration leak". Even on the low pressure side, sometimes leaks won't show up until the equipment is running & thus moving to some degree. You may still have a leak. Leaks can be tough to find & because of that, I am a big advocate of injecting a dye which when viewed under UV light will show up as a yellow/green stain.
The link about the coil cleaner would not work for me.
