Hello,
I have a weird problem occurring. The AC unit works then all of a sudden the Aux heat light comes on and we get heat instead of AC. I have a Trane XE1200 HE Weathertron heat pump. Have a bubble type thermostat. Unit made in 2001. Have had regular service and change filters all the time. Tried a digital thermostat and did not make a difference. Compressor was replaced last year. Sometimes the problem occurs then goes away. Other times problem comes and wont clear for a day or more. Tried resetting power outside and at furnace/ handler inside. Some times when it appears the problem is resolved it comes back. Any suggestions??? Thanks

I am suspecting a problem either with the low voltage wiring but not being real strong on heat pumps, I'm going to move this thread to the heat pump forum.

if you are using a auto-change over stat, make sure your heating set point is lower than the cooling set point

It can be in the tstat . The 24 V wire and also check out the defrost board.
