i was cutting my grass today. half way through, the blades stopped. i broke a spring. i cant tell where it goes to. it is the spring attached to the idler (?) pulley.(the one that engages the blades) ive been staring at it for hours and i cant see where it attaches to. its a craftsman 15 hp. briggs 402707 type 1242 01 . can you guys help? does it attach to the frame? does it attach to the arm that i push to engage the blades?

If it looks like most springs,it's got a short end with a hook on it,and a long end with a hook on it.The long end goes to the idler pulley crank bail and the short end hooks to the ingaugement lever somewhere.Since your mower is a Craftsman you can go to the craftsman parts look up website, put in the model # to your mower (found under the seat, not the one posted) and get a parts break down of the deck and all to look at.The number you posted is only for the Briggs & Stratton engine the mower has on it.
