ICP replaced my 2 1/2 heat pump. When the new unit got there is was a 3 ton. I was told that it would not work correctly by someones else because of having a 2 1/2 ton air handler.
I thought that Heil's air handlers were only single diget, such as 2, 3, 4, or 5 and no halves. Is this correct? Also I have no espansion valves. Does that matter?

I for sure would not put a 3 ton high side on a 2 1/2 blower coil. Coils work ok with a orifice or a capillary tube or better with a TXV valve on them. ;)
