My gearshift has become hard to move into any position without force. I am afraid I will break something. The manual says to lubricate the gearshift pivots but I don't know how to get to the pivots as they are under the seat and rear fender. Do I have to remove the fender or go up under from the bottom? Help!! Do I have to remove the battery-I really need help!

I don't have any idea what pivots you have or where, without knowing what mower you have. Generally, get a can of your favorite lubricant spray, and shoot it under there at all moving parts. Work it all back and forth, and repeat until everything is working smoothly. The shifting problem could be an internal tranny problem too.
