There is a pipe that hangs over the kitchen window and leaks condensation from the central air.

Here's my concern. I moved in spring 2006. Last summer, the dripping occurred maybe three times. This year, it drips constantly as long as the unit is running.
If it has gone crazy, I'm worried about moisture in the attic, also the growing green area where it drips outside the window on a small patio. I'm a 60yr old asthmatic so I did not go roaming around in the attic. I did go to the top of the attic steps and could not smell dampness or see any with a flashlight.

Is this much dripping normal? Should I have it checked?

Thanks for any input!

For sure call a tech right away. That pipe can be from the over flow pan under the unit. if it stops up you can get water in the ceiling. Is the air filter clean and new??? Is the big copper line cold and wet, the small copper line warm to hot?????? At the outdoor unit outside.

Your main drain is probably clogged up and the condensation is entering the overflow pan. They run overflow pan drain pipe to a area where if it drips it will get noticed. Someone did a good job on the install sounds like. Call someone soon to have your main drain from the air handler unstopped. Now if you can get that lazy grandson over there he could take care of this real easy tell him about this website if he needs direction.

Thanks for responding.
The big line is cold but not wet, small line not hot, not even warm but the a/c not running yet this morning. I had a big window unit installed last year when we hit triple digits and the a/c went out twice, the first time a part needed, second time an ant clog. I will run that until I can get the central checked.

How should those two wires feel to the touch?

It gets noticed, for sure. That was a good idea. I have already placed a call. I don't have any of those grandsons, lazy or otherwise, but they sure would come in handy for things like this. :) Thanks for responding.

The AC has to be running to feel the copper lines at the outside unit.
