I'm planning my back patio, which will be plain brick set in normal crushed stone / sand bed. But the location of the patio gate is lower than the main area of the patio, so I'd have to start sloping the brick down to meet the gate in that area. Is there any problem that I should watch out for doing that?

Thanks
JC

All patios should have some slope to prevent accumulation of water. What is the slope going to be?

Are you considering interlocking concrete pavers and what pattern or are you considering clay brick with what pattern?

A nominal slope should not be a problem.

In this area, leading to the gate, it would be about 3-4" over about 5'. More than the typical "drainage" slope would need to be.
